Hot Spot Rapid Response Service

Hot Spot is Outflow’s on-demand clean-up and hazard-removal service for Tauranga Moana. It’s designed to catch the issues that fall through the crack, those sharp, dangerous or polluting items that appear suddenly and need attention right away. When you report a Hot Spot, it goes straight to our operations team for immediate assessment.

If you spot broken bottles on the beach, sharp metal buried in the dunes, tangled fishing line, dumped rubbish or any debris that poses a risk to people, wildlife, or the environment, send the location through our online form or message us directly. The more detail you can share, photos, landmarks, GPS pins, the faster we can act.

Once a report comes in, our team reviews it instantly. If it’s within our scope and safe to handle, we dispatch a crew for an immediate response. Depending on conditions and team availability, this can mean same-hour or same-day removal.

This service helps prevent injuries, protects wildlife and stops harmful objects from breaking down into microplastics. It also gives the community a simple and fast way to protect the environment they use every day,

We can respond to most debris and waste issues, however for safety and legal reasons, there are some situations we cannot attend:

We cannot respond to:

• Chemical spills, fuel, asbestos, medical waste or any hazardous substances
  (Report to the Regional Council Pollution Hotline. Call Emergency Services if it is urgent.)

• Issues on private property
  These must be handled by the landowner.

• Injured, deceased, or stranded wildlife
  (Contact the Department of Conservation – 0800 275 362)

Hot Spot works because the community is our eyes on the ground. The sooner we know about a problem, the sooner we can get boots on the sand and remove it. This rapid-response service is one of the ways Outflow keeps our beaches, dunes and waterways clean, safe and enjoyable for everyone.
